#SS Mac OS install of 7.5
7 messages in this thread
OK, I've got SS installed,a Mac partition formatted but I'jmhavin trouble
getting SS to find my (Sony=Apple) CD-ROM drive containing System 7.5. I have a
stock A4000/040 with the Mac partition in where hd1: is (on the IDE-controlled
motherboard). hd0: contains WB and SS. The CD-ROM is attacched toa GVP SCSI
controller which is also attached to a GVP HD (hd2:). I have enable and
disabled Apple CD300 emulation, but I still get a blank screen with a flashing
"1" in the upper right hand corner, presumably asking for System disk 1.

Gary: My System 7.5 update came with 2 items, a disk and CDROM. You need to
boot from the disk which will them bring up a minimal system and allow you to
format your Mac partition. Once that's done, it should then proceed to finish
booting and the Icon for the CD will appear allowing you to install 7.5. Make
sure you read the ShapeShifter documentation carefully concerning the SCSI
settings.

Yes, I did, but couldn't (and STILL can't) get SS to recognize my CD-ROM drive!
Fortunately, a friend has 7.5 on disks and I installed it from them. Curiously
I have an Apple (Sony) CD-ROM drive (and ASIMCDFS), connected to a GVP SCSI HD.
SS is on an IDE partition. I think I'll e-mail Herr Bauer.
Can someone email me the author of shapeshifter EMail address and registration
address?
