I need to add 2 megs of ram to my stock 1200. The manual is useless and the dealer disappered. Is there a standard PC type simm I can use with the motherboard? Thanks.

You have two options to expand the A1200 beyond the stock 2MB chip RAM: 1-Add a PCMCIA memory card up to 8MB into the slot. The only problem with this is it will only be 16-bit (slow) memory. 2-Add an expansion card into the underside of the unit that accepts memory. There are all sorts on the market, ranging from just a basic memory & math processor card to an all out 68030-50Mhz accelerator with SCSI and network options. All cards in this slot will have 32-bit (faster) access to the memory. If the card is _not_ an accelerator, you will still be limited to an additional 8MB of RAM. This is because the 68LC020 (?) in the computer can not access more than 8MB. (Yes, I know you'll also have 2MB of chip RAM for a total of 10MB, but that's a trick performed by the custom chipset!) Accelerator cards on the other hand are not using the LC020, so you can go beyond the 8MB limit. I think some cards go as high as 64 to 128MB! Regards, Keith.
