#BBS QUESTIONS
2 messages in this thread
All I want to do is set up a tiny, insignificant, low-featured BBS on one of my
Amigas so that I can call it up from home and have it answer automatically so I
can send it a file. It sounds so simple, but I've spent much time and money
trying to download shareware and make it work.
I'm not to proud to admit I need help and/or constructive advice…HELP!
Also, If anyone has any suggestions about how I can make my Amiga automatically
reboot at a given time, let me know.
Thanks loads!!!

Here's the solution, download MAXSBBS from the Telecomunications File Directory
here. Copy it into its own Directory on your Harddrive and assing that
directory to BBS: by adding it in your S:User-Startup or your
S:Startup-Sequence if your runnin 1.3 just add the following line:
Assign BBS: DH0:MAXS/ (assuming you put it on your dh0)
For the second part of your question get program called 'Boot' and place it in
your C: directory then you can add an EVENT in MAXS for a predetermined time to
execute a dos script that runs boot and your computer will reboot at that time
-or- you can also call your BBS from elsewhere do what you need to do then from
within the BBS as the sysop you can drop to a cli or dos shell and type 'boot'
and reboot your computer remotely that way.
Maxs is about as simple as BBS's come and very nice! The default condition is
fully functional and ready to run. If you'd like to get the latest version
and/or questions answered as well as see what can be done with Maxs you can
call my board at 806-795-5580 anytime night or day.
I know…cheap plug but hey I'm not proud 😉
Oh and the best part! Its FREEWARE!
