I want to use Brilliance to load and edit Toaster/Lightwave 24 bit images and kmock them down to HAM 8 or 5 animations. I looked over a 1200 with a GVP 40 Mhz board and 4 megs of fast ram (for a total of 6 megs) When I load Brilliance 1.0 and a 24-bit image, I had trouble getting the screen proportions right, then Brilliance wouldn't allow me to create any more frames. We tried disabling the WB and utilities some. What's the problem? Just how much ram do i need to get things moving? LS

PLENTY cause brilliance creates huge buffers and doesn'y really use virtual memory rightt with VMM programs.TRy personal paint from software hut or image fx.2.0,or imagemaster rt/mainactor proffessional/anything else brilliance is pratically impossible to work in ham animations cause of the large programs size,I think 10 to 32 mb of memory is needed especially when working in 24bit mode,It needs about twice the memorry of the file for ham/24bit anims/pics

If you can afford it Personal Single Frame Controller and a 1Gig Hard disk will play about 15 minutes of animation at 30 fps(may not work on a 1200)

What exactly does a PAR do? Compress frames? Does it directly output to a VDR and/or display? Do they all need card slots (ie, not a hot- rodded 1200)?

Lattie,My friend has one so I dont know all the specific details. I do know that it uses its own compression scheme but output is clean. When your ready to output all you do is play the animation to the vcr. Editing is non linear so you can access a any part of the animation instantly,

Does the PAR have it's own NTSC output? Is there only one manufacturer of them?

Yes to both. Image Dynamics – Chicago
