Hi,
In LW on my VT. When I go into any kind of proceedure involving
Directories..the icons are labled "HD0" "HD1" and mine are, of course, DH0 and
DH1. Now I know that there MUST be a way to change this without always having
to type in the path, isn't there?
Thanks,
TP
Sure is Tom! Use your favourite text editor to edit the LW-config file, which
is found in your Toaster/3D directory. The file looks like this:
LWCO 0 FileReqPreset1 GH0 GH0: FileReqPreset2 DH1 DH1: FileReqPreset3 EH0 EH0:
FileReqPreset4 RAM RAM: ScenesDirectory 3D:Scenes ObjectsDirectory 3D:Objects
HierarchiesDirectory 3D:Scenes SurfacesDirectory 3D:Surfaces ImagesDirectory
3D:Images OutputDirectory GH0:Rendered FramestoresDirectory GH0:Rendered
MotionsDirectory 3D:Motions EnvelopesDirectory 3D:Envelopes PreviewsDirectory
3D:Previews StatusFilename (none) DefaultTension 0.000000 DefaultSegmentMemory
10000000 DefaultZoomFactor 4.690000 DefaultOverlay 0 FrameEndBeep 1
RenderDisplayDevice 0 RecordSetup1 (none) RecordSetup2 (none) RecordCommand
(none) RecordDelay 0.000000 FirstFrameDelay 0.000000 DefaultLayoutGrid 4
AutoKeyAdjust 0 ExpertMode 1
That's my config. You'll want to edit these lines:
FileReqPreset1 GH0 GH0: FileReqPreset2 DH1 DH1: FileReqPreset3 EH0 EH0:
FileReqPreset4 RAM RAM:
Insert your desired volume names, and away you go…

Hi, Thanks for the post! Are you saying that I should but my HD's address after
the : in your post?
I really appreicate this!
Tom
Hi Tom-
I usually add the 3.1 fonts directory to make it an easy access. Just replace
the df0: one.

Videology, Inc Where you always get P.O.M.P. and
Service under all circumstances
Sorry took so long to get back to you, been painting ;->
In the config file where it lists HD0 HD0: just substitute your drive name,
like so: DH0 DH0:
The first characters (DH0) will appear in the requester, the second set (DH0:)
is the "direction-finder" for AmigaDOS.
My original post didn't format properly, so just look at your own config file
as a guide. For safety sake, you may want to make a copy of the file and name
it LW-config.default (or something).

TP,
<<HDO, HD1 to DH0,DH1…>>
If you are using a directory utility like OPUS, or DiskMaster do the following:
/Enter your Toaster drawer.
/Enter your 3D drawer.
/Highlight the file LW-config.
/Select EDIT.
/(in OPUS) bring the screen in back to the front. This is the config. file for
LightWave.
/At the top of the file there are four lines that read FileReqPreset#
/Rename the device names (HD0 HD0:) to DH0 DH0:
/Do the same for all four (rename HF0 to DF0, HD1 to DH1, etc.)
/Save the file and reboot the Toaster. Your directorys will show your new
names.
Use the same procedure to rename the device names in Modeler. Just select the
file entitled MOD-config
Good luck,
Mike
Thank you very much! 🙂
