Just a fact: You can install Lightwave 4.0 (WINDOWS NT Version) in Windows 95. It will run better (at least it eliminated the 125 frames preview bug under Windows FW). No special configuration for the dongle is needed. Of course Newtek will not support this… Julio.

Yes, You can, but it will run slower than on Windows 3.11. I did a render test and when running on NT it renders 3 times faster than Win 95. It looks like Lightwave uses a older Win32 code so Win 95 don't treat it as a 32 bit program. Daniel

>>Yes, You can, but it will run slower than on Windows 3.11. I did a render test and when running on NT it renders 3 times faster than Win 95.<< I tried a few small test renders of juggler (21 frames, 320 x 240) and NT did about 40 sec/frame and Win95 about 65 sec/frame..also, LW seems to multitask _much_ smoother under '95…I guess it really depends on what build of '95 you're using. FWIW, Rob

Rob, Fancy meeting you here! I was just crusing through to get some idea of the stablity and usablity of LW/Win. How is it? How does it compare with TrueSpace. I have heard a lot about LW over the years and I am considering buying a copy, but I would like to know how buggy it is first. Some of the comments about NewTek products in this forum is making me a bit nervous. Ken

Hey Ken, what's up? >>Fancy meeting you here! I was just crusing through to get some idea of the stablity and usablity of LW/Win. How is it? How does it compare with TrueSpace. I have heard a lot about LW over the years and I am considering buying a copy, but I would like to know how buggy it is first.<< In short, the renderer _smokes_ trueSpace in terms of quality, texturing, lighting, speed, flexibility, etc; no comparison….but the reverse is true in terms of modelling, animating paths, and overall usability, and interface integration and interface speed… I think the products are very complimentary…As far as stability, I've yet to crash LW…be aware that it is in pre-release at this moment, and it's still missing some features… Rob
