#CIS Access to FTP Site

Has anyone been able to access the Newtek ftp site via CIS Spry Mosaic? Got to
the home page fine but hyperlink to ftp site would not let me in. Been around
CIS for many years, but am a first day user of mosaic and the CIS internet
gateway.
Using the CNL.EXE Compuserve NetLauncher program I downloaded from CIS, maybe I
just need a different tool? Maybe my URL line is incorrect? Maybe it's harder
to surf than I thought?

NetLauncher has been way buggy for me. I don't know if that has a bearing on
your ftp problem, but I've had very poor results with it compared to NetScape
1.1 and my Internet access provider.

Can you tell me where to get netscape 1.1? I have been able to get Eudora to
work with the CIS dial in program (very convoluded, though, so don't ask), so I
am hoping that possibly Netscape would work with the PPP connection that the
CIS dialer program provides. Anyway, thanks if you can help. Brian

You would FTP to "ftp.netscape.com". That server appears to be pretty heavily
loaded. Took me two tries to get a good download for the Macintosh, although
the Windows version downloaded perfectly the first time. They also maintain a
list a of mirror sites on their web page (http://netscape.com). You might be
inclined to try one of them.

As far as I can tell that link does not work with any program. And I have
tryed it on several. You should go there directly with FTP. ftp.newtek.com this
works!
