#Non-Flyer Upgrade

OK, I've felt like the bastard child for quite a while (since '91) only using
an A2000, but now that I'm a non-flyer Toaster user (thank God, I don't need
any other hard drive problems, right Wayne?) I feel pretty much abandoned.
IS there going to be a new update and exactly when for JUST the Toaster? When I
recently spoke to a living, breathing(?) operator at NewTek, she had no
specific information except I couldn't buy it directly from NewTek. My local
authorized Dealer has only one part-time employee, and all he wants to do is
push the Flyer. At this time I don't want a Flyer, it just wouldn't work for
my specific application, but I would like 4.0 for the Toaster. About the only
Amiga highlight of my last year was purchasing Alpha Paint, at least TP hasn't
forgot about us A2000/non-Flyer folks.

Toaster 4.XXX should be out in the next month or so. CD-Rom or disks or
both, I'm not sure. It'll be just like another upgrade. Except you get a
flyer interface (so I'm told) with no flyer to use it with. However, you
can still use it to, for instance, place croutons for switcher events and
create a series that outputs to your video system, something requiring 3rd
party scripting until now (remember Toaster Toolkit?).
It should be a great upgrade, especially with LW 4.0, improved CG and the
new T-Paint. If you're an A2000 user, like me, you'll have to live with
the usual HAM mode, but the interface appears to have been improved
dramatically.

According to many sources, The Video Toaster 4.0 upgrade is $595.00 and
available now. Check with Hank Teller @ Videology. He'll be able to fix you
up…

Hi David –
Upon complete of the Toaster 4.0 (it should be 4.1 when it is really done),
NewTek will be releasing a Toaster 4.0 update which will be and update to
Toaster 3.1 users. For all practical purposes, the current 4.03 can be loaded
as an update, but the installation procedure doesn't dissallow the Flyer's SCSI
controllers, so the Flyer card has to be in to make it work. The software
doesn't need it.
At present, however, most users who had 3.1 are still using it for editing
certain parts and have installed 4.03 as a second Toaster.
We are taking orders for 4.0 (really 4.1) and would be glad to talk to you

As a set with a couple of install disks, the CD-ROM and new manual, the upgrade
to Toaster 4.1 will have a suggested retail of $545. The same set with the
inclusion of an aprroximately 60-disk basic install set for those who do not
have CD-ROM drives will have a suggested retail of $595. Again, that is in
addition to the CD-ROM install set, so thos who add a CD-ROM drive later can
access the extra content on the CD when they do so.
