#QTW 2.0 and sync
5 messages in this thread
Just wondering if anyone's having problems maintaining sync with QTW
2.0whatever. It seems like on playback on lesser systems, it keeps the frame
rate steady, but it skips ahead and behind on the audio to try to keep things
in sync. I can see how it's great not to skip frames, but there are times when
I'm going to want it to skip frames to keep in sync with the audio. Is there
a way to modify Apple's QT player to skip video frames if behind….

I don't have the answer myself, but Nels Johnson who's also on this forum works
for SF Canyon, who developed QT/Win for Apple. If anyone would know, he
would…
Hope this helps,

Tim, Arnold,
One of QTW's main design tenets was to always drop video frames to keep in
synch with audio during normal playback. Unfortunately, Apple took the project
back in house last year and have been making changes to it since before v2.0
was released. If you want to get a more informed answer, I suggest posting it
on the MACMEDIA forum to Paul Charlton. Sorry I can't be more precise on this.

Thanks for the quick reply and pointing me in the right direction. Apple has
their stuff so spread out over CIS — they're even worse than Microsoft in this
regard. (I can't believe I'm typing that last sentence…) <g>

Ouch! Sorry to hear it…
Good to see you again, though!
