#Are you a Flyer expert?
3 messages in this thread
I am a long time Toaster user with an interesting job. Next week I
will demo a new Flyer system. I will have 4 hours to learn the thing
before the demo. I would like for some of you who have experience
with the Flyer to tell me what you wished someone had told you about
the system before you started using it the first time. Also, what
works, what doesn't work. Also, what works and what doesn't work on
the Toaster 4.x software? Thanks a lot.
I'm also a dealer in CT. We have been demoing the Flyer since we
received our dealer demo in January. Although the current rev of the
software in distribution is 4.02, some problems have been found,
including stuttering on video playback, that Newtek is preparing to
ship 4.03 next week.
With 4.02, there are several problems to be forwarded about.
First –
CG key pages start as soon as the video they are to be keyed over,
regardless of the "start" setting, but end when the "start" plus
"duration" time is met.
Scroll and crawl pages rendered in CG with shadows (no outline
avaiable), but the shadows don't show up in playback.
Scroll pages with too many lines (eighteen or more for sure) crash
playback.
Split edits require you to split the background clip at the point where the
insert stops, and do a cut-edit at that point.
Use of "right-only" for audio used to, and may still, eliminate all sound
playback.
Attempting to get a sound track synched to video, without a timeline, is still
a trial and error operations, and not pretty for a demo.
I'll upload the notes I have from several months on CIS, most of which still
apply to 4.02. We hope to have a list of 4.03 fixes, and 4.1 promises this week
from Newtek.
BTE, Newtek maintains a presence now under Newtek, AMIGAVENDOR, so you have CIS
help which is usually faster until Newtek squares away their phone support.
