PMJI, I am looking through some old messages on the forum, found yours, but
the original is no longer here. So I will reply to you. I am using WARP for
Windoze-based desktop video and get better performance than in DOS/Windoze.
Because the original message is no longer here, I don't know your original
questions. Be happy to contribute if you want to ask again.

Thanks for showing interest. I have yet to upgrade to WARP but will. Though
have been debating about waiting for 3.1. I know the kinks are in the system.

Originally, the very short thread was asking about what desktop video software
ran under OS/2. My system is a 386sx, and I rather suspect somethings will
need a 486. So I was just looking for suggestions on hardware/software. etc.
and then at some point this year I'll upgrade the system and move to desktop
video. Budget considerations are important [low is the key word: $1000. –
2,000. for hard/software combo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is that a bumper sticker? Have run it quite successfully on my "garage
special" 386sx with 8 meg of mem for sometime – no problemo. But with desktop
video, any suggestions for when I upgrade?

havn't gone through the video on a warped unit yet. I will. When I do I will

I put OS2 on a 486 DX 66 with 8 megs. It seems slow compared to the windows
environ.
Speaking of Windows… I need to use alot of apps designed for windows. When I
run them through OS2, they are really slow! Do you have any comments on
possible problems I am having that would make this so?

I have to confess to using Winnows apps also. Even gave up on CIM for OS/2
[till later . . .] However, Windows was only a concession, being built into
OS/2. I have little experience with "It" outside of my own system which is a
386SX with 8 megs. So everything I do seemsto run just fine [translate: slow
but sure], but I am happy. I will not even attempt desktop video until the
system is upgraded.
I did spluge and puchase a program which helps to optimize the OS/2 config.sys.
For the little things it did for me it was worth the cost. Contact Kelly
Schrock 70572,1247. Also there is a freeware program on the OS/2 users forum
which will help with optimization also. As always, keep bugging software
firms to write for OS/2 – and not just cripple Winnows versions!
