Please help me.
I am interested in buying the right equipment to produce: high quality,
educational, training and development presentations on computer. Motion video,
graphics, photographs, audio, special effects, etc.
I have seen some material from the AVID company about their systems but I would
like to know more about what is available before I invest my money. I have a
somewhat limited budget but I do not want to buy a Romper Room system. I want
to buy a set-up that is capable of producing professional looking products.
I plan to produce presentations on a freelance basis and would be interested in
buying the right equipment and talking with someone who has already been there
and done that.
What equipment would I need to get up and running in a small business
arrangement?

What's your ultimate output–computer presentation or videotape?
IMHO, the Avid systems, while VERY good, are also VERY expensive…you should
consider your needs for the next few years before investing in them…

Thanks for your note. Any information is better than what I currently have. I
agree AVID is very expensive but they seem to be the leaders in this area. I
would love to have their high end system but I cannot afford the price.
Thanks again. My ultimate goal is to have the ability to produce computer and
tape presentations. I do not want to have any limitations.

Thankfully there are lots of choices today for broadcast quality Desktop Video
Production. If you can find them in your area I would definately have a look
at the NewTek Video Toaster, Fast Video Machine, Pinnacle Alladin, DPS
PAR/Perception with Adobe Premiere or Razor.

Thanks for the information. I imagine I'll be taking you up on the more
"questions as they come up" offer.
I presently live in Germany and have problems window shopping. This makes me a
mail order kind of guy. To combat my isolation, I must spend a lot of time
reading material to make informed buying decisions. Subsequently, advice or
direction provided by folks such as yourself is considered highly valuable and
it is greatly appreciated.

Glad to be of any help I can!
Have you considered Fast's or Miro's nonlinear setups? They're less expensive
than the Avid's, and may suit your needs…
