Shapeshifter filedisks
3 messages in this thread
Hi there,
Just got registered for shapeshifter, and I want to repartition my hd
to work with it. Problem is, my filedisk is on one of these
partitions. Can I copy it across to another partition, then copy it
back ? Kenny Green The Problem with the rat race is that even if you
win you're still a rat.
Sorry, but the answer is no. If you want to repartition the drive, you will
loose all its contents. You have to make a backup first. That's why it is quite
important to make an "appropriate" when you first partition the drive.
What you can do is copy it to other partition, and format the first partition
only. But without repartitioning the hard disk.

Got it sorted. I copied the filedisk over to another partition, chose a
devicedisk, then initialised it on the mac side. I then copied the filedisks
contents onto that new partition, chose it as the new startup disk for the mac,
and deleted the filedisk. It works great, and I can tell you that using the HD
on an A3000/Picasso/18mb ram w/250 mb HD space dediacted to the MAc, is very
good.
I am awaiting word from Phase 5 on whether they will make a custom 060 for the
a3000, and seeing that SS will work, (and benefit) with using one, then things
could get much, much faster.
