I've just purchased a power pro 601 board to use in my Quadra 800. Haven't installed it yet, but I notice in the user manual (pg.54) it says to that system 7.1.2 is contained in the power pro software and should be used to update earlier versions so as to take advantage of power pc capabilities. On the box it says 7.5 is required. Can it run using just 7.1.2, or is this outdated? Also, is 7.5 prone to crashes (compared to 7.1)? Any advice here appreciated.

System 7.1.2 was Apple's interim System release that supported PowerPC until 7.5 was ready. DayStar included it with initial PowerPro shipments because this system was (and is) difficult to find. DayStar changed its requirements to System 7.5 when it was released by Apple. System 7.5 and Update 1.0 are recommended for the PowerPro 601 over System 7.1.2. Greg Erickson DayStar Digital
