Gosh! You mean you can play an 1.4 meg/s AVI with the "skip video frames if
behind" option on without any jerks? Aarrgh! Help me pull this envious feeling
outa my heart and (pleeeeaaaase) tell me how I can get close to this. I've got
a fastscsi tool that allows 32 bit access to my HD. Do you use ramdisk?

Try enabling 32BDA… That's all I can offer. My system is optimized, but
nothing magic, just standard Windows tweaks.
The WD 1gigs push about 4.2meg per sec according to Norton and WDC disk tools.
If the video card and CODEC can keep up… it should handle it.
To me, the subject is moot. No one comes to my house to see animations,
everything goes on CDROM, so huge AVI's are pointless. The installed base of
CDROM drives is still mainly double speed…. so I just have to see how good it
can look at 270k/ps.
