#trueS.2.0 MGA Millennium
7 messages in this thread
I'm going to buy the new Video card from Matrox the MGA Millennium. It is the
successor board of the MGA impression+ card. You can get it with
2-8MB of the new Window RAM. The W-RAM is even faster then the V-RAM. The
Millennium is also fast in DOS and it supports 190.000 shaded triangles per
second. I've read that TrueSpace 2.0 supports the Impression+. My question is:
Does it also support the new Millennium card from Matrox, which is much faster
than the old Impression+.

I'm considering that, too.
But the lack of DOS performance (no, I still can't do without…) kept me from
going matrox.
Any reports on the perfoemance of the millenium (DOS, Win, tS) will be gladly
appreciated.
Bye.

Hallo Herr Beckersjuerg!

Does it support texture mapping ? The new boards (Glint…) are supposed to
support it so Matrox should get their act together pretty soon it the Millenium
doesn't.

trueSpace2 will be accelerated by any card for which there is a 3DR driver
available (including Glint chips). This includes the Impression Plus and to our
knowledge will also include the Millenium (couldn't hurt to check with Matrox
though to get a date for the availablity of the driver).
I think the Millenium support textures, but not in hardware. This sounds
strange, but what I have heard is that you will see textures, but that they
will be processed by trueSpace2 directly on the CPU. There are many shades of
gray of texture support. The Glint SX does some, but the TX will have full
support. I guess in the end it comes down to how the actual apps work. There
are also DCI cards from Diamond (Viper Pro Video) and STB that speed up
trueSpace2 solid mode significantly without the special 3D chips.

Nope.. Sorry. Not *this* product, but..
