#3DS2IM on dvsgol.jpg

Andrey I just wanted to say that I tried you program out. Taking
AcadR13 and converting an 8 plus meg .dwg file to 3DS format separating objects
by layer I then ran your program on the 3DS file to convert it to Imagine
format. The resulting group it produced was excellent and I uploaded an image
done with the resulting object called dvsgol.jpg in new images. Your program
performed flawlessly. I will have my registration fee in the mail shortly:)

Thanks a lot, Bob! Nice to know it's useful. :->

Well it is nice to have a good bridge between Imagine and Autocad.
There are any number of things I want to do now since modeling will be much
easier. Complex shapes, slicing, ect, are all much easier with Autocad. There
are things I can create now I had not even considered trying if I had to model
them in Imagine. However, the strong points of Imagine, rendering, textures,
effects, ect are things I would not want to be without. Now I have the best of
both worlds thanks to your nifty little program. Thanks for writing it.

Robert,
Great looking robotic arms in DVSGOL.JPG! I would love to make the file
accessible to as many people who may want to view it, but the file size may
scare many away. Think you can re-Jpeg the original to a size somewhere around
200-250K without much image loss? I think that would make it much more
palpable a download. <g>

Thanks GreG although I'd like to take this opportunity to say that the model of
the arm itself was a sample drawing that came on the cd rom with AcadR13. It
was mostly an excersise in converting objects from acad to imagine using
Andrey's great little program. That said, now that I can model and import from
acad look for more detailed models coming from me. I was pleased with the end
result considering there was only about 3 hours total involved in the project.
I will re-render the scene in 640×480 and see if that helps on the size. Will
also experiment with the compression and see what I can get away with. Should
I delete the file and upload the new one? Let me know what you want me to do.
Bob………..
Bob,
Oh, you didn't model the amrs? Ok….then they suck! <g> Seriously, they
still look great.
As for the image size, just use a higher level of JPEG compression. No need to
re-render it. If you upload the file with the same name, the original will get
overwritten. So need need to delete the original one, it'll be done
automatically.
