I don't know about you, but I did not keep my original box for the Amiga I purchased over a year ago. If this is a policy they insist on (having the Amiga back in its original box with styrofoam), those folks at CBM have less intelligence than I thought they did (and they didn't have much to start with!)

IF the trade in policy goes into effect, as has been described by at least one dealer online here, the individual stores will keep the machines and be reimbursed to some degree by CBM, and then the dealer may resell those machines to whomever. If there is a policy of requiring the original packaging and/or differences in pricing of the trade in dependent upon whether or not the machine has an Insider or other modification, that policy is one by the dealer not by CBM.

Steve, I did make that comment and believe it to be true. However, as I have said many times I have no official CBM materials to back this up. This is what has been (rep)orted to me. -John

Jeff, It's only logical to keep the boxes when you purchase a piece of equipment like a personal computer. The boxes come in real useful if you move it or want to trade it in. -John

Only logical, perhaps…but I envy your endless storage space if you can afford to keep empty cartons and styrofoam packing material on hand! #>Mark<#

Mark, what else is a bomb shelter good for? <grin> -John

Jeff, I kept my original box up until a few months ago, when I ran out of room in the basement. But I'd agree, wanting the original shipping box does seem a bit much for most. BTW, I'm not the one who reported this, I merely re-posted a message I had received via EMail. You might want to get ahold of Dave for more clarification. His ppn is in the message itself. Don
