I would seriously doubt that Oracle would port to the Amiga for now,
but they do have it running under UNIX and UNIX will be an option for the
Amiga in about 6 months or so.

You mentioned that UNIX would be ported to the Amiga soon. Are you talking
about the A1000 or the A2500?

The A2500 is the A2000 with add in cards. In particular, it has the
A2620 coprocessor board. That board has a 68020cpu Math chip and MMU on it.
It also comes with 4 Meg of 32bit wide RAM. I presume (but don't know) that
the UNIX port will require this type of setup. If you could achieve it on an
A1000…my guess is that it will work fine. UNIX itself will be a separate
product that you can buy.

Thanks for the info on the A2500. If the 68020 board will be 32 bit does
this mean that it cannot access any other boards via the 68020's internal 32
bit bus. It seems like an awful shame to be stuck with only 4 megs of 32 bit
ram.

Not having seen the board, I have no idea if it will have the
capability of accessing other 32 bit boards. Obviously it won't be able to
via the slot as that's only 16bits wide.
The only time this would be a problem is when you have programs that
require more than the 4 Meg on the A2620 itself, then it would have to access
any other RAM you have in 16 bit mode. The 68020 can do this…so there's no
problem there, just the data transfer won't be as fast.
