Mike,
I'm still waiting for the upgrade to 1.2. I seem to have been summarily
dropped from the beta program at the time that Pat left. The last thing I
received was a beta version of 1.2. Since I am an alpha tester of the
Windows version as well as an independent sysop in the Superbase forum I
would think it would be in Oxxi's best interest to hang onto the people who
are most qualified to give the software a workout.
Ciao, Neil
Neil,
It seems that Oxxi has dropped the ball on us Superbase users 🙁 I
have repeatedly left message here for info on the upgrade to 1.2. The
only response I have gotten is assurance that I am in thier database as an
registered user of Superbase (and a # of other Oxxi products). It sure is
dissapointing and is shoring up support for a decision for my company to
quit fighting the amiga battle and switch to clones where product support
is more reassuring.
How have things been? Haven't seen you around here lately. Any
progress on the dos to amiga form converter? Do you know if any of the
new features in SB2.0 for Windows are going to be ported to the Amy?
(fishing for any inside gossip!)

Steve,
I blew off the converter since the 2.0 version of Superbase which was just
released can save a form as DML code. Other than that, I've been real busy
getting my new products together.
Ciao, Neil
Neil,
I recall getting this identical message yesterday and deciding that I
would respond today, Saturday. I will look into the situation concerning
beta testers. I was not informed of how Pat was handling the situation.
Currently version 1.2 was released and we are now working on the personal
and LAN versions.
I will get back with you within a week during which time I will look
for Pat's files concerning the beta program and I will probably be able to
speak with her next week.
Thank you,
Mike Uman

I would appreciate it if you could get the most recent 1.2 off to me. I was
quite late in sending my registration card (okay, so hit me <g> but not too
hard), so I don't blame you folks that I don't have it, but you should have
had the card ybout a month or month and a half now.
Ciao, Neil
I have 1.00, how do I get 1.2?
Brian — Cruising on AutoPilot…..
Brian,
The upgrade cost is $20. You can mail us a check, order via credit
card, order COD, etc. If you want to order via Compuserve, you can mail us
your credit card number and we can bill you.
Thank you,

Mike,
I have the Amiga 1.01 version of SBPro 4. Is there an update available to
1.2? Are there plans to keep the Amiga version in synch with the Windows
version?

Gary,
Interesting question.. We would like to maintain compatibility with the
windows version but we are not working with SPC, they are developing
independant from Oxxi's SBase product. We are working on Amiga'izing the
product to take advantage of the special features of the Amiga. We are
working on supporting the new graphic modes of the AGA chipset.
We will continue to use the file formats used by Superbase and unless
SPC has changed that, we see no problem being file-compatible with the
windows product.

That's interesting. A former OXXI representative, speaking at the time
OXXI bought SuperBASE, told us that there was an agreement between OXXI
and SPC that would provide source code so that the two could be kept
compatible. I'm a bit disappointed that this is not going to happen.
—Betty
Betty,
I have a feeling they don't have the resources to keep up. SPC is pouring
tons of money and personnel into the new product. The original was written
by 3 people, who also did the handbooks and all the other versions as well.
The new one is being programmed by 6 people, 8 or more are working on the
documentation and a huge support staff has been created.
Ciao, Neil
Neil,
I know a few of the people who did the original, and I know there were not
many of them. Amazing how well they did, isn't it? I know Simon and Tim
best, and Tim much better than Simon.
—Betty
Excuse me Bety…what is SPC?
Patrick White

SPC is an MS_DOS software company, US-based. THey purchased Precision
Software in order to get SuperBASE, and then sold off everything else that
Precision was doing. They sold the Amiga SuperBASE to OXXI.
—Betty
Thanks Betty.
I talked with the technical support people at the Disk Co. (Activision)
today about a small problem with MaxiPlan 4. In talking to them I
discovered that they are looking to get on CompuServe as another
AmigaVendor. I think that this is great. The more tehnical support we
have on CompuServe the better.
One questione though…Why haven't CompuServe touted AutoPilot in their
monthly magazine? Just curious…..
Patrick White

CompuServe magazine promotes CIM because it belongs to CompuServe, and was
developed by them. Same with Navigator. But the others, such as
AutoPilot for the Amiga, TAPCIS and OZCIS for MS-DOS, and others, were
developed by individuals. The magazine tends to advertise only those that
belong to the service.
—Betty
Mike,
The file formats have changed. They are not backward compatible.
Ciao, Neil
Gary,
The most recent version I have is also 1.01 SBPro 4. That vesion I
received in June of 1991, some time ago.
It bothers me when some companies play "hot potatoe" with programs. BTW,
OXXI should never have lost MaxiPlan.

I have version 1.01 and despite several enquires I don't seem able to get
the upgrade, is it because I live in the UK or just because my messages
havn't got through?
Greg
Dear Greg,
I am sorry but how have you tried to get an upgrade. Have you called
us? Have you mailed us a letter? Have you E-Mailed us? We usually get
things out if we get an order.
Please E-Mail us your information including your method of payment and
your current serial number. Then we can talk about your upgrade.
Thanks,
