I'm thinking about getting the ProGen genlock for my 500. Is this a mistake? Will I need a stronger power supply? Does the software work easily? Is the quality of the video signal dramatically less than the Supergen?

I my opinion, Cathy, the Supergen is a better deal for the money (with the ProGen being nearly as much $$). If you are looking for something basic and less expensive, the MiniGen (based on the ProGen and promses to deliver equal quality) goes for around $200.

Is anyone using the Omnigen 711 or other Omnicron genlocks? I like the specs and need a good external genlock for use, but haven't been able to find a demo out here. -Chris

I've been using the OmniGen 701 with great results. I can strongly recommend it and at least two other people here in Nashville agree with me. I'm using it in a broadcast production studio, and have also used it in a remote truck. If you have any specific questions, let me know. Jay Voorhees, UMCom Productions
