Hi, I have just gotten Digi-view 4.0, and am having a bit of a problem with
Dynamic-Hires. When I resolve an image, there are some horozontal streaks
throughout the picture. The resolution I am using is 640 x 480 in dynamic.
I have found that increasing the sharpness helps some, but the image gets
grainey. The camera is a Panasonic 1410, and the lights are fluoresent
circular tubes. Any hints? Since the images take so (soooooooo) long to
resolve on my A500.
Banding, in Dynamic Hi-res mode, usually is the result of the horizontal
(left to right) colors exceeding 16.
Use your mind to imagine slicing the picture you want to digitize, line by
line. If you see more than 16 contrasting colors within each line, you have
a prime candidate for the banding.
Details that do not match any colors in the palettes are assigned an
averaged color. Sometimes you get enough small details close enough
together to blot out parts of the picture.
It is unlikely that your problem will clear up by adjusting the sharpness.
Selecting subject matter should involve not having too many broadly
contrasting, left to right, colors.

Thanks for the information, I guess it will take a little more playing. I
just wish that it did not take 30 minutes to generate the image.
Ouch! 30 minutes!?? It only takes 2 minutes or so on my 3001. Of course,
28 MHz does help….
I guess I had better start looking for an accelerator!
One drawback: once you use one, you'll never be satisfied with a 'normal'
Amiga again…such is life…:)
Actually, I've had excellent timing results with just my 68000. (Yes, I
still have a 68000!) *8>
Average rendering time is about 10 minutes. Of course, I am more careful
about my subject matter. As, the more details and colors that the program
has to average on each line, the longer the rendering time. Being more wary
of your subject matter will greatly reduce your rendering times.

Mike (also Dave and Vance),
If you set the mode to 16 (or 32) colors when you digitize,
then set the mode to Dynamic AFTER you have digitized and then
select DISPLAY. This will decrease the amount of time it takes
to digitize as much as 75%.
