#386SX/25 Bridgeboard

This week Vortex has had an ad in a German AMIGA-Magazin.
25 Mhz 80386SX Bridgeboard (like 2286 + 2088) for A2000/A3000(T) Max. 16 MB
Can use the PC-Slots optional 82077A Floppy controller (1.2 MB, 1.44 MB,
2.88 MB!) Uses the AMIGA-mouse as Microsoft mouse 2.0 compatible &
multitasks with the Amiga —> see 2286 Can use internal and external AMIGA
Floppies as 360 KB & 720 KB Messy-Dos drives. Has an IDE-HD-Controller.
Offers (if used without graphic card) CGA (16-colors), EGA/VGA mono,
Hercules, Olivetti and ToshibaT3100.
It's called Vortex Golden Gate and costs about $700-800.
Sounds not that bad compared to the Commo 386SX-card.

According to a mention in the latest CROSSINGS newsletter, the Vortex
Golden Gate has a suggested list price of $DM1,295 for the 16MHz board.
The list price of the CBM 1 Meg (exp to 8 on board) 386SX/16 (optional
20MHz) board in the UK is L599 plust tax, but is reported to sell for L300.

Note that the Vortex board hasn't been delivered yet–or hadn't a few days
ago–but it sure looks nice.

tks for the info. However, the price for the A2386SX seem`s to be higher
then here in Germany. I have seen an ad where it go`s for DM 980.- (one L =
DM 3.60 ??) I also have not seen any technical data about the A2386SX. –

The price Michael quoted from CROSSINGS was the list price I was given for
Germany. I'm glad to hear it's lower on the shelf.

The A2386 (the '386SX bridgeboard) is now available here in the states. Its
retail price is $959 — it's a 20mHz 80386SX and comes with 1M ram and
MS-DOS (don't know what flavor).
Because of limited supplies, for the near future, the A2386 will only be
available bundled with 2000s/3000s.
More info on new pricing, new bundles, etc., later after I go thru a 12
page fax I just got.

Steve: As much as I wanted to see CBM come out with a 386BB, somehow I'm
just not excited about it. If it was a 25mHz DX with on-board VGA and 4megs
of ram, then I would be interested. I guess I'm just a hard person to
please 8^)

A single card with all that and _no_ Amiga communications would cost
something in the $2000's, and yes, there is such an animal. It is available
from a place calling itself the "industrial computer source" and is
designed to go into a passive backplane. I just wish I hadn't tossed their
last catalog…. (subscribe to PC-rag _once_, get junk mail forever!)

Hallo Horst Well, that's the price I saw in an ad. I don't know if this
mail order already got some bridgeboards in stock (I don't believe so, if
to this boards happen the same thing that happened with the SupraModem here
in Europe then it would be a nice X-Max present…..)
