Ian, I just called a distributor of Corel in the UK, and they said that the Drive that comes in the bundle is the Toshiba 3300, which is exactly the one I am using with the Adaptec. So rest assured – if this is the drive you are getting, then it definately works with the Adaptec. I hope this cheers you up. Anyway. Just for the record, I have ordered a Kit for myself, so I will let you know more (if you want) when I get it by the end of the week (hopefully). Regards Costas

Costas: Yes, I'd appreciate any information about how you attached the CD-ROM to the Adaptec 1542b and what you had to change (Autoexec.bat, config.sys, etc.) to get it cooking. <g> Thanks Ian

Dear Ian, I enclose my autoexec and config files. As for attaching the drive, I just installed a triple end SCSI cable instead of the normal two way one (in order to connect a disk, the CD and the controller), and followed the instructions (ie one terminator installed at the end of the SCSI chain) and thats basically it. Now you might have a different configuration, so if you have any problems with it, just send me a E-mail and I will try to help you (if I can). *** My Config.sys device=d:\adaptec\aspi4dos.sys /p330 /s1 /x00 /L /d device=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS device=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE i=b000-b6ff x=c700-c7ff ram dos=high, umb FILES=20 DEVICEHIGH=c:\dos\NNANSI.SYS lastdrive=S devicehigh=c:\dos\setver.exe devicehigh=c:\dos\aspicdrm.sys /d:aspi_cdr /c:t2 BUFFERS=15 DEVICE=C:\FAX\SATISFAX.SYS IOADDR=0310 DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\SMARTDRV.EXE /DOUBLE_BUFFER STACKS=9,256 **** My Autoexec.bat @ECHO OFF SET PCTOOLS=C:\PC\DATA C:\WINDOWS\SMARTDRV.EXE /L prompt $e[0;36;40m$d $t$_$e[32;1m$p$g$e[33;1m set temp=c:\temp set mouse=C:\DOS SET LMPATH=C:\ SET TIGA=-mC:\TIGA -lC:\TIGA -I0x60 REM SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T2 REM SET SOUND=D:\SBPRO PATH C:\WINDOWS\EXCEL;C:\WINDOWS;C:\PC;C:\NDW;C:\;C:\DOS;C:\TIGA;C:\NC;C:\NO;C:\WIN;C:\CDROM;C:\LM\UTILS;D:\;C:\FAX;C:\SCAN; @c:\dos\MSCDEX.EXE /D:aspi_cdr /M:10 /L:F /E @c:\dos\UMBFILES=50 @lh doskey @C:\LM\UTILS\LXLOAD @lh C:\TIGA\TIGACD C:\WINDOWS\mouse.COM /Y /C2 /P3 /S85 /U C:\FAX\CASMGR.EXE C:\FAX\CASMGR.CFG c: cd\windows C:\DOS\SHARE.EXE win cd\ cls I hope this is what you wanted. Costas, Just wondering why, if you use the umb files utility to allow plenty of files while reducing conventional memory file overhead, you set 20 in config. I run it at 8 in config and then add 52 in UMB. Rich

Well, that is basically because sometimes I tend to have more than 50 files open in Windows (I do a lot of cut and paste when I work in Corel. And its much safer too, because I had some configuration problems some months ago, and I couldn't load anything in the Upper blocks, so I left files=30 just to be safe (in case UMBfiles didn't work).
