#2.0 Programming Info?
9 messages in this thread
Are there any good text files or books out there covering programming
the 2.04 way? I am anxiously awaitng Addison Wesley's ROM Kernel
Manual-Libraries to come out (supposed to have been on the street June 15)
but I have been wondering what all the developer's have been using to this
point. Surely CATS gave the developer's some info and I am wondering if any
of this can be released to the general public.

Generally, the developers rely on a combination of AmigaMail, the AutoDocs,
DevCon notes, Word of Mouth, and a whole lot of luck. In general, AmigaDOS
is always a moving target (we certainly don't want it to stand still) that
takes some effort to keep up with.
The Librariew manual has been on the street for 12 days now. Talk to your
bookstore and make sure they remembered to order some.

Andy,
Nother fellow and I have been bugging the local bookstore alot these
last few weeks. They told him yesterday that they UPS's some copies that
day, so in a week or so we should have one.
Are you sure it has been out for 12 days thoughs. About two weeks ago my
friend called Addison Wesley themselves and they said June 15. Guess you
can't even always trust the horses mouth….8^)…..

A-W's official release date for all new books in the month of June is the
15th. However, I first began seeing reports of people getting copies on
the 5th, so possibly A-W did some early shipping.
(If you call A-W I'm sure you got the official story. After all,
that 's what official release dates are for 🙂 )

Michael,
I just ordered a copy of the Libraries manual from Briwall in Kutztown PA.
They said they have approx 125 copies! I have also been patiently waiting
the RKM Lib arrival!

Hope that helps!!

Michael,
I've already got my copy–sent directly from Addison Wesley 😉
Their order line is 1-800-447-2226 and they take plastic.
If i remember correctly, cost+shipping was about $41 or $42.
AND…for a "non-programmer" like me, the book was just what I've been
waiting for! It actually *explains* how to use the libraries *grin*
.. Tim Trompeter…
Tim,
Thanks for the info. Sound what I have been looking for too….

BTW, the ROM Kernal Manual-Libraries is out. I got a copy directly from
Addison-Wesley. I got tired of going to every bookstore and asking for it
and went ahead and ordered a copy from the publisher. Now, every bookstore
that I went to is calling saying that they have copies in stock, come and
get 'em.
