I just got a Supra V32bis 144 FAXmodem and have a minor problem. When I call some of the BBS's here in SLC, some of them use IBM Graphics as the 1st page. The auto error correction in the modem doesn't understand this and winds up dumping the connection. I have to issue an \N command to turn off the error correction to get it to work. Is there a setting anyone knows of that will auto select eather error correction on or off on the innitial hookup??? JOHN – The Lost Southerner!!

John: Try adding the AT command &Q0 (select asynchronous non-ec mode) to your init string when you call that BBS. Michael …..from the north coast

Make sure you are not stripping eight bit. Cheers, Paul (WA1OMM)

Paul, How would I strip 8 bit? The modem is configured as it came from the factory (&f2) and the only way I can get in is to issue a \N command to turn off all the compression and error checking. What is stripping the eight bit??? JOHN – The Lost Southerner!!

That wouldl be in the software you are using for terminal emulation. Cheers, Paul (WA1OMM)
