#morphing in motion

Hi,
I've tried the demo of WinImages:Morph. It's quite easy to do mophings with
it. But it can only morph still pictures. How does morphing of a moving
object in film work? I could take the frames of each of the two films and
morph each frame pair, but that would be very much work.
How do the professionals acheve that?

No, WinImages:morph does do full motion morphing with automatic tweening;
basically, the way it works is like this:
You have two "streams" of frames; for instance, 30 frames of subject A and
30 frames of subject B.
Now, you set up (at a minimum) the points for the starting pair of frames
(1a,1b) and the points for the ending pair of frames (30a,30b).
WinImages:morph will then "tween" the points for frames 2-29, relieving
you of the work of moving the points yourself.
You can also add points of your own definitions (non-tweened) at any
number of other points (for instance, 7a/b,15a/b,21a/b) and the tweening
will use those as interim guides, resulting in a better quality morph in
almost every case.
The advantage of tweening is that it does, as you say, reduce the work
involved. The disadvantage is that is almost *every* case, a tweened morph
of moving subjects will be nowhere even close in quality to a "hand-built"
one – graphicss experts will rarely use such a feature for professional
work, no matter how well it is implemented in the software (and it is VERY
well implemented in WinImages:morph).
So the answer to "how do professional achieve that" is, "by hand, very
carefully".

GET IMAGEMASTER Now, even if you must contact Rumplestilskin. GREAT
program, I like Erik Flom also own Cinemorph and RARELY use it since
Imagemaster is soooooo much nicer for Morphing, espescially when you add
EDGE's
LOVELY Software, BTW I suggest you also go for the Autoupgrade plan since
those Wacko's at BBS are constantly upgrading this Whizbang Software.

I found out today, that the Auto-Upgrade offer expired on May 14th, not
the end of the month, like I thought. Found out when I called to register
for the offer. :^(

Bogus. I think Ben mentioned that AFTER IM R/T is released the Autoupgrade
will be available again. I could be wrong tho. I never reapplied to extend
my Autoupgrade either and I believe my year will be up in the near
Future.
Well, as a current Auto-upgrade member, I think you'll be grandfathered
into whatever program emerges to replace it. But, that's just a guess.
I'm looking forward to IM R/t, but since it won't retarget to the Toaster
buffers (thanks, NewTek!), it won't do me much good until I get my 4000.
(Which'll be a few months, at least.)

Interesting idea. BTW I just read on Amiga_Video echo that John Gager is
looking for JPEG's and other 24 bit images for inclusion on a CDROM he's
putting together. If I'm not mistaken John is here on CI$.
I've already been in touch with him, thanks!
As of last count, I've got about 27 JPEGs in my CDROMSubmission
directory.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's work on there too!

phone bill reflect's it <g>. Yep, Erik has already contacted me concerning
submission's for some of his artwork for the CD and it will be a nice
addition.

some of your 3D artwork for the CD, please let me know via Email so we can
set up the details.

Well I just read Mike's post about recieving a letter saying it was his
last upgrade. since I haven't recieved such a letter I guess I'm safe to
get the next version of IM at least.
When your AU program is 1 month from completing, you get a letter.

Imagemaster can morph – but it much more. It is an *extremely* powerful
image manipulation system – special effects, etc.

I just wanted to buy WI:Morph, but now you say ImageMaster can do a lot
more. I'm confused…

Imagemaster is for the Amiga only. The Winimages: series are similar to it
but in secions whereas on the Amiga it's one HUGE prg.
ImageMaster sounds very interesting, but I can't buy a Amiga now. Looks like
I will buy Morph.

Imagemaster is only available for the Amiga. Software with similar
capabilities to Imagemaster is on the way for the PC (WinImages:F/x) but
it'll be some months yet (6 or more).
For the PC, WinImages:morph is the only program we have shipping at this
time.

Imagemaster Does Morphing and a WHOLE LOT More. It is also a image
manipulation and conversion prg. One of the BEST. Winimages:Morph is a
port of the Morph section of Imagemaster if I'm not mistaken.
Its for the Amiga only at this time. Imagemaster that is. As far as I
know.

You _are_ mistaken on one point. :^) WinImages:morph uses the same
proprietary morphing technology, but was written from the ground up for
the Windows OS.
