Soundblaster Noise

My Soundblaster Pro makes anoying noises when I first turn on my computer, and
before I load any software that calls it. I can only make it stop by playing
little bits of MIDI music, or by starting PRO-ORG, and then quitting. This
doesn't happen when I soft-boot – only when I physically turn on the power.
Any ideas besides never turning off the computer?

I had this problem with my Pro for quite some time and could never nail it
down, but it appears to be a driver problem. When I installed the latest SB Pro
drivers, the problem disappeared and hasn't reappeared on my system. The
drivers I'm using are dated in late October, 1992; there may be even later
versions but these work.
Also, SB drivers must be loaded into Windows in a specific order (there are
readme files on this) and any change in them can cause bizarre and
unpredictable results.

I to had the same problem! I initially purchased Sound Blaster, and
after finding out that SB Pro was much more quiet I bought SB Pro, which did
make a difference. If that's not your problem, you may try tuning down the
volume on the back of your computer, on your sound card, this caused me
problems also.
Also some software is better than others, that also makes a difference.
Check all your connections, especially if your using a stereo amplifier, it
will increase the noise of a bad connection. Well good luck, hope something
