Idea for the future

Hello Impulse. I've got a great suggestion for a future version of Imagine (assuming it hasn't been already suggested!). I;m using Imagine 2.0 and the Humanoid object. Wow is this getting fun or what! Here's my suggestion. Wouldn't it be great if you could lock one maybe two groups of your choice into position, in either the cycle editor or detail editor (with cycle transform on) and pull your object from any other group and have all the inbetween groups change together to extend out or in so that you can create a pose in a matter of moments? Example one: The Hunanoid is standing straight up with his arms down at his side. You want him to extend his arm straight out and point his index finger at something. You could lock his chest into position. Then grab his finger with the cursor and pull it until his arm reaches its limit based on the lengths of the joints in between. The effect would be like pulling a string on a puppet. The program would have to calculate the angle and position of all the in between joints on the fly. Example two: The Humanoid is in a crouching position and you want him to stand up. Normally, its pretty tough to keep his feet from sliding a little bit which ruins the effect. You would lock both his feet into position. Then grab his head and pull up until he can;t go up any higher. I think the power of a function like this would be tremendous. It would also cut down on the time spent positioning complex objects. I hope ypu at least consider the idea for a future release. Bruce Patek – via Whap!

Impulse is currently working on a feature similar to what you're describing. I can't say much about it because I haven't seen it working personally. From what I've gathered from our conversations, the new Imagine will allow you to lock the positions of certain joints (like making sure the feet stay on the ground) and contrain the movement of others (so the thigh doesn't fly away from the knee). Please remember that these comments are based on preliminary discussions only. I can't say for sure what features will make it into the final versions of the software! –Rick

When you get more solid information on features for Imagine 3.0, will it be posted for all to see? I would love to see what you guys have come up with. <<< Tony D. Tracer >>>

The moment I get the go-ahead, I will post as much information as possible. Mike Halvorson will also be posting an extensive description at the earliest possible date. –Rick

Have you ever gotten a Newsletter for Imagine? If not you may have the same problem I did. They had a Garbled Address for me, Probably due to my Lousy handwriting. Ya might want to give them a call, they took care of me Quick when I spoke to Mike Halvorsen at Impulse.

>Have you ever gotten a Newsletter for Imagine? No, but I called up Mike and he cleared it all up for me. It seems I was never entered into the list. <<< Tony D. Tracer >>>
