Hey MBX 1200 Owners: If you want to upgrade to an 030 Accelerator, we've created a direct trade-up deal which will get you a pretty aggressive price on our new 50MHz M1230 XA. We are doing a mailing to our registered user base next week. If you have yet to register or can't wait, call us on Monday and ask for Darrin. He'll give you the information and/or put you on the list to get the mailing. NOTE: you must be a current owner of an MBX 1200 or 1200z. –Redmond

Great !! Thats what I've been waiting for, some info. on the M1230 Please describe this Product, I currently use a MBX1200 25mhz 882 w/ 8 meg simm. And I want Power :^) I bet a 50mhz 030 1200 will compete nicely with my 040 Toaster sys :^) ….John

John: the XA has all major components socketed. It uses standard 72 pin SIMMs (just as on your MBX 1200). The trade in offer in fact takes your existing SIMM and math chip and moves them over to the XA. XA supports a CPU, FPU, single SIMM up to 128meg size, and a clock. With a 50MHz processor its speed is about twice that of an A3000 and about 80 percent of an A4000/40. Thus it is the fastest AGA machine you can make without buying a 4000/40. (in fact it's faster than a 4000 in a few benchmarks because it has a better RAM interface.). –Redmond

Well, your charge card may be in for a pleasant surprise. With the trade in, the XA is pretty affordable. –Redmond

I'll call Tuesday. What does the XA do again? How does it compare to the Viper? Brian — Cruising on AutoPilot…..

The XA is an accelerator, large memory device, and clock. It is less expensive than the not-yet-delivered Viper. Performance-wise, we believe it to be the fastest available accelerator for the A1200. –Redmond

Thanks, it will have to wait though. My close-out 2024 (destined for my 3000) arrived DOA, and now I'm spending scads of $$$ to get a 1942 monitor for my 1200. Brian — Cruising on AutoPilot…..
