I have installed MS-DOS 6.0, using the DBLSPACE facility. I then installed 3ds version 2.01a. I am using Himem.sys and smartdrv.exe. When I attempt to render a scene with a material that uses any map files, I get a message "unable to find file filename.ext in maps path or image path". Using the get material choice in the Materials Library function, I receive the same message when attempting to select a material for rendering. I've edited my 3ds.set file and put specific path statements in that agree with where the subdirectories are located. Is there compatibility problems with 3ds and msdos 6? I resized one dblspace volume and loaded 3ds into uncompressed portion. Same problem. If I must return to dos 5.0, are there compatible disk compression programs that I can use (i.e. stacker)?

There will no doubt be others with DOS 6.0 experience but I have heard the concensus that DOS 6.0 works fine as long as you don't use double disk. I use QEMM and stacker with no problems on DOS 5.0. At any rate you should disable smartdrive for 3DStudio and allow pharlap to handle all the ram available. Good luck!
