Donald: Pleased to report Metheus was sent onernight and I installed last night. I'm experiencing several problems with installation. Windows: Works great in 1024×768 thru 640-480 24 Bit– no problems All 256 color modes 640 thru 1280 have random trash green color on the program window but none on the icons (I'm aware of the # limitation on icons in 24 bit mode). The program windows seem to be OK but the scroll bars are orange rather than gray. In 16 bit mode the green trash becomes dark gray. The trash is not random it's always in the same locations. I need to use some software in the 640X480 256 color mode so this resolution is important to me otherwise I'd just run in the 24 bit mode even though it is slower. The Auto Plus driver R4.2 is completely non functional after several attempts at reconfiguring. After redoing the 3DADI.cfg 3DS boots up in the 1024-768 256 color mode for RCPADI but exiting out to dos and then rebooting 3DS I only get the borders of the editor screen and only the upper left quadrant of the screen on display. I must redo the 3DADI.cfg each time I reboot 3DS to operate this driver. My RDPADI still works in all this mess with the Targa+. I downloaded the Panacea driver demo and it works fine but has some major limitations that needs discussion.– but at least it installed OK. I haven't tried the Vibrant Graphics soft engine yet, I'm not sure it will even work with the S3. I used it with a few bugs in the shaper with my #9 tiga board. I will contact Metheus today on the windows 256 problems, but since I saw the windows working at comdex in 256 mode I'm sure I probably have some memory conflict somewhere which may be causing the autosoft problems as well. I have a few more things to try before I resort to the pure system/ add back until it fails approach which is usually how I locate these types of problems. I'll keep you posted, but in the meantime you might try the Panacea driver and catch my message to Chris(Panacea) regarding my observations.

Don, We haven't had THAT much trouble….but I haven't tried 256 color modes yet… This is probably an obvious suggestion, but you might want to make sure that A000-C7FF is excluded in your memory manager… I would look at your Targa Plus there and try some different memory configurations on it. We have ours running fine with a different S3 based board (generic EISA) so I can't help you there. Good luck and keep me informed. I hope you have better luck getting through to tech support! Just to update you: We solved the problem with windows in 256 modes. It turns out the card was picking up some interferrence from the IDEN TBC installed. If I remove that card the problem goes away. The Panacea driver downloaded from this forum works great but is somewhat limited in setting the rendering to 24 bit while maintaining the screens at 256 color. I've got Magni working on the non functioning feature connector with Metheus. I did have to reconfigure the Targa+ to 210 Hex from the default of 220. Simple enough to do! Metheus Tech Support told me they do not respond on the phone, only through FAX which I complied with last week. If I don't hear from them in a week I will contact some VP's from Metheus I met at Comdex. I'll try your A000-C7FF exclusion range for their AutoSoft driver just for academic purposes although I'm presently running with the Panacea.
