Have just connected a Pioneer DRM-604X multiplatter CDROM drive to my system, and cannot read any cdroms, despite using ones which worked on my prior BSR/Sony (DAK) drive: Sci Am Med, MS Bookshelf, US History, Toolworks World Atlas, among others. 1st drive produces CDR 101 Error reading Drive S: Other drives: CDR 103 Disk is not ISO 9660 or High Sierra Config.sys device = c:\qemm\qemm386.sys ram rom x=b000-b0ff X=c000-c800 x=f000-ffff DEVICE=C:\PCK\KeySave.sys BREAK=ON BUFFERS=1 FILES=8 LASTDRIVE=Z DEVICE=c:\qemm\loadhi.sys /r:2 c:\uspi14.sys SHELL=C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM /P /E:300 device=drd60asp.sys /d:mscd000 /E: /N:6 INSTALL=C:\QEMM\LOADHI.COM /TSR /R:1 C:\DOS\SHARE.EXE /nc DEVICE=C:\QEMM\LOADHI.SYS /R:1 C:\PAS\MVSOUND.SYS D:3 Q:7 Autoexec.bat c:\qemm\loadhi /r:2 c:\qemm\BUFFERS=2 SET COMSPEC=C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM c:\util\numoff PATH C:\;C:\DOS;C:\BAT;C:\UTIL;C:\DV;C:\LIB;C:\QEMM;C:\MEMO;C:\PCT;C:\LM;C:\ARC;C:\N ; SET NU=C:\NU PROMPT $P$G c:\qemm\loadhi /r:2 /res=1472 /sqt=d000-d0ff c:\qemm\files +20 VER SET GMK4=e:\write\g4\ Set GS=e:\write\gs Set tappath=f:\tapcis set spss=e:\spss set spsspath=e:\spss c:\pck\super /configfile=c:\pckold.ini c:\mscdex /d:mscd000 /L:S /E /M:24 /v /s c:\pct\mirror c: d: e: f: g: System: Acer 1100/33 (386/387, 33 mhz), award bios 3.03e2, qemm 6.02, msdos 5.0; ultrastor 12C controller for boot drive (micropolis 1558); ultrastor 14F scsi-2 controller for Maxtor PS-17 harddrive, DAT and CDROM; ATI VGA wonder XL + 8514 ultra running NEC 5fg monitor – 16 bit mode; MediaVision PAS-16; Pioneer DRM-604X cdrom changer Mscdex from pioneer, 2-04-92, 25431 bytes. Just a guess…make sure the data side of the discs are facing up.

Unfortunately, fix is not so easy. All cdroms face up. –ed thanks

James, Unforunately, no such simple fi. However, new PAS-16 drivers (from PAS BBS, now uploaded in this forum as well as PAS forum) seem to solve problem. Thanks –ed

Are you still using the Beta ASPI drivers that come with the drive (Version 1.1 of the Pioneer DOS drivers disk), or did you get hold of the final release version ? The final version seems a lot more stable than the old beta driver, although I still prefer the Corel SCSI drivers. If you want to give Corel a try, be sure to get version 1.1 of their drivers (double check if you get them from an adaptec bundle, because the version nr's don't match the real version). The latest Corel drivers work fine, they support audio and "CDCHANGE" which allows you to use only 1 drive letter and still access all disks.
