The VXL-30 is a fast accelerator and lists for $400. It'll work in an Amiga 500 as well as the 2000 because it replaces the CPU in its socket. The CPU is then mounted in the VXL-30 board and you can toggle between it and the 68EC030 (you can also use the standard 68030, not included). So you can boot with the stock 68000 for compatibility purposes. The VXL-30 is rated at various speeds from 16 MHz to 50 MHz, with mine being set up for 25 MHz. It also supports an optional 68881 or 68882 math coprocessor and you can get a daughterboard for it to let you install up to 8 megabytes of 32-bit, 60ns Fast Page Mode Dynamic RAM. It's been tested compatible with Commodore, GVP, DataFlyer, and Xetec external hard drive/RAM peripherals and the Bodega Bay expansion chassis on the Amiga 500. It leaves the processor slot free for Amiga 2000 owners. This board is supported by MicroBotics, Inc. and comes with utilities to handle the various special features of the '030 chip (cache and so on). Bonus: the optional RAM board also accepts an alternate KickStart ROM that can be selected at boot time, letting you choose between it and the one on the Amiga's motherboard. No need for a separate board to let you alternate between OS 1.3 and 2.0! Reason for selling: It needs the CPU socket and my new MegaChip 2000 sits too high for the accel board to clear. The board overlaps the Agnus and Denise chips. I wish I could keep it! It's very fast, especially for the money. $175 plus shipping takes it. See you in email. Tom
