A4K or A3K+Picasso?

Mike (and Paul Toal, if you're listening) –
You guys seem to have thought a lot about Retina and Picasso graphics
boards.
If one was upgrading from an A2000, what would you feel are the relative
merits of A3000-plus-Retina (or Picasso) versus A4000?
A 3000T-040 might be in the running, with all of its slots and brackets,
but how would you compare the graphics?
Does the A4000/AGA still have some advantages over the A3000/Picasso?

If you can get a good SCSI card in an A4000, that's the way to go if
you're getting a NEW machine. If OTOH you're looking for a used machine,
or already have an A3000 then the Picasso card is the way to go (from all
that I've been able to find on the card, time will tell once it's really
released).

Dear Mike: I'm writing an article for rank beginners like myself.
It's on clipart and it's for CompuServe Magazine. (Anyone else with
knowledge, or a friendly sysop, PLEASE join in!!!) In beginner's
language, what Amiga hardware and software requirements would you
recommend for someone like me who wants to make greeting cards, put
art on white paper bags for his school kid, create a calendar, make a
funny book cover for his kid's school book, do a family newsletter,
etc? (Let's assume this isn't for commercial use and that I don't
have an unlimited budget,; are there more than one type of hardware
and software packages you'd recommend? What software commercial
companies (re clipart) could you go to on this forum or another if
you have Amiga? Thanks very much. Do you, btw, ever use clipart?

Boy that's a tough call, it really depends on your primary interests
and financial condition. If everything is about average, I would draw
the line at a 2000/3000 with a 68040. If you do have an '040, I
would be very comfortable with a Retina over a 4000. What monitor
would you be using? Do you have a Toaster?
