#T4000 Arrives!

Yer a Bad Boy telling me about Lightwave 3.0 heheheh just when I was
starting to forget about it. Oh well. Lucky for me I'm too lazy to go to
the Municipal Credit Union and get a loan. Thank Goodness it's all the way
Downtown Brooklyn. hehehehehehehe
BTW Should have a Nice piece to show ya on my Next tape to you and Paul
Gerhardt. I just now recieved the Finished Product for that Student Film I
did the CGI for.
Haven't even viewed it myself yet.
I finally got to see the arcade animation I've been working on the last 3
weeks. It looks pretty nice – the clients are jubilant, but there were a
few little glitches.
If you send me a copy of your animatoin, I'll tag the arcade onto the end
and send it back to you . . .
Lightwave 3.0 is really nice for its use of pull-down menus and keyboard
shortcuts. The pull-down menus will save me from potential carpal tunnel
syndrome, at least! I've only had a few hours to try the software, but it
looks really promising.

After seeing the Completed Student Film, my thoughts are " EGADS, My name
is on THAT???" it was pretty Bad. It looks like they did EVERYTHING in one
take. Lots of Garbled Dialogue. Also Suffers from the fact that the gent
who did the film only had VHS equipment to work with making the multi
generation Losses Atrocious as well.
Once I finally put my new Demo reel Together I'll send that out
instead.
Well, that's why they cqall them 'student' films. :^)
I look back at some of the early stuff I did & think: 'Gads, I did THAT!'
Do send something off when you get it done. By then I may have a copy of
the Arcade animation to send out

Eric & Peter,
Speaking of student films, let me know when you are doing you next tape
swap and I'll share my next demo tape. When you see my 7th grade students'
tour of the solar system and beyond I think you will be pleasently
surprised. This version will include the "megezoom" from a closeup of two
of my students looking out a window on the Enterprise to a full view of
the Enterprize moving off.

Sounds Cool Paul. I should have a tape ready soon, I'm currently at 12
minutes or so and MASTERING on SVHS direct from DCTV.
Ohhh goody. I started compiling a new Tape yesterday while awaiting my
Girl to come get me to go to Pastosa's for some nice Italian Food.
I'm upto about 12 minutes at the moment and still have an entire Syquest
full of Anims to Transfer to Tape.
Yeesh, leave some room for us! :^)
Look forward to checking it out! So, I guess I'm the second in the chain?
:^)
Erik Flom
Erik & Peter,
I have been thinking about this chain video idea and I am not sure how
it would work. It seems to me that you would only be able to see the work
of those "up stream" of you on the chain. You would never get to see the
work that was added to the tape after it left you hands. What do you
think?
Actually I certainly would not mind sending you and Peter a tape. As
long as the number of people in the swap remains small it may be simpler
to just send each other tapes.
…AutoPilot Engaged…
-Paul-
Well, the chain idea only works if we keep sending it around.
I'm sure by the time I got it again, I'd have more to put on it.
I'm just trying to cut down on the overhead of a couple of bucks per tape
I send out.
I was also hoping some other people might want to jump on the bandwagon,
this being the 'Desktop Video' section and all . . . . :^)

P.S. If this idea doesn't work out, we can always fall back to sending out
individual tapes.
Erik:
Although I still consider myself an Amateur, I would be willing to dump
some of the mediocre stuff I have done to entertain myself, family and
friends.
-Jonathan
Sounds good! (Maybe I should start a list of interested people . . .)

BTW, I just got my Emplant… plugged it in, messed with some of the
software settings for about 5 minutes and then it booted up my AMAX
partition. Right now I am typeing in AP while I have PageMaker running on
the Emplant. This is great and the color is super!
-Jonathan
Erik,
Put me down as a link in the chain……..
Jerry
(Chain Video idea)
Yowza! The idea seems to be catching on.
I'll put together a list so we can make sure everyone gets to see it at
least once. :^)
Thanks,
Erik Flom
Egads this is getting to be a LARGE Chain.
Amigaarts Video Reel: The Movie………
Eric,
Oh I see, around and around she goes! Of course if there were alot of
people in the loop it might be a looong time before you would see the
tape. But I'll give it a try if you and Peter would like.
…AutoPilot Engaged…
-Paul-
Yeah, I can see a number of problems, from people sitting on the tape for
more than a few days, the tape getting lost in the mail, getting eaten by
a VCR, etc.
I still think it might be worth a shot.
I think if we get more than 10 people, the distribution might take too
long, but I've got 6 on the list now. I think we might need some
ground-rules, like make sure you pass the tape off fairly quickly, keep
your segments less than 10 minutes (to prevent boredom, and make sure that
there's enough room on the tape for ev3eryone to add something.)
I figure, if people like what they see on the tape, they can just dub a
varsion for private viewing/archval purpose, and then pass it onto the
next person.
To get the ball rolling, I'd like to ask anyone interested to send me
their address via private E-Mail. I'll compile a list, put my stuff on
tape, and send it to the closest person (which, at this point, is Jonathan
Blackwell, I think).

OK Erik watch for my Email.
…AutoPilot Engaged…
-Paul-
You've already got my address right Erik? 10 Minutes Gads, there goes the
Neighborhood.
Erik & All,
Count me in on a chain if you'd like. It sounds like an interesting idea.
You may want to set a length limit, or it could fill up really fast before
making the rounds.
Erik, are you volunteering (gulp) to make up the routing list? If not,
I'd gladly do the honors. Remember, the starter gets on first :^)
While we're on the subject (nice segue, huh?), I just finished my demo
reel (with a little prodding from you!), and I'd like to offer a couple
here up for grabs. I can afford to make about 10 freebies (VHS), so if
anyone would like one, please E-mail your location data to me.
It'll be pretty much when they're gone, they're gone. Constructive
feedback is absolutely encouraged. Of course, I'd never refuse a tape in
trade, but it better have something good on it <g>!
… Nate, Emerald Video.

Hey, I'll trade you my demo reel for yours, just send me your address.
(And, as I mentioned, we ought to limit it to 10 minutes or less per
person, given the number of potentially interested parties.
I have volunteeered to go ahead and make up a routing list, so just send
me your name and address. (I think I'll make a few rules, like: don't hold
onto the original tape for more than a few days, etc.)

Nate,
I would _love_ to see your work! Unfortunately, it will be weeks before I
can send some of mine in return. Are you willing to wait?

Blaq!
Hey, Blaq!:
Have you considered sending your stuff to Jery Hatchett for inclusion in
the tape we're sending everybody?
If interested, leave a message with me (Erik Flom), or contact Jerry
Hatchett.
Keep On Toastin'
Erik Flom
Sure! I've just got a few freebies left. It won't go out for about
a week or so, as I'm using my editor as a recorder on location (in my
basement <g>) for my latest, and it's a bit heavy to run up and down
the stairs.
Besides, after some good feedback from Jerry Hatchett, I might make a
few little changes to the demo first.
Let us know how setting up the system goes. I wish I would've known about
this forum when I was doing that.
… Nate, Emerald Video.
I Animate – because – I am a Nate!
If you get enough people, 10 and 30 minute broadcast master tapes can be
purchased at a reasonable price.
wmc – via Autopilot!
Yeah, but when you add postage x12-24 potential viewers to that, it gets
more expensive than sending a single tape around 2-3 times . . . .
Erik Flom
Well, We'll just have to wait for Clinton's national data highway. THen
you'll be able to move full motion video back and forth via CIS ! ;^}
wmc – via Autopilot!
Sounds good to me! I'm all for high-speed data networks!
Given what I've seen at ICTV, and in the press, it looks like the cable
system is going to be the first 'national data highway'. (Though I think
it's going to end up being more like a 'national data TOLL-ROAD'. :^)

All told I filled about 26 minutes. Ok, I'll send to you furst then you
send to Paul and then I guess he'll send it back to me so I can see your
new work as well as his, but then I guess I'll have to send it BACK to you
so YOU can see Paul' swork???? Maybe this chain ain't such a good
idea????
I was kinda' hoping more people would be interested.
If it's just you guys, we can send out individual tapes.
(I've just got too many individual tapes as it is . . .)
Keep On Toastin'
Erik Flom
hehehehehe Well lemme know the outcome, wether I should send both you and
Paul a tape or send you a tape and wait to get the Chain back to see the
results. BTW I checked the Tape I supposedly recorded and lo and Behold
there wasn't a Blessed thing on it. I am perplexed. I must have hit Play
and NOT record or something.
Peter:
I've asked anyone interested in this idea to send me their address via
private E-Mail. Once I've got the list, I'll order it by geographic
location and include it with the tape. I'll go ahead and start the ball
rolling by sending out the first tape (High-Grade VHS).

Cool, Guess I have time to redo my Reel and pare it down to 10 minutes.
Erik-
Did the good folks at newtek change the problem of grey dots in grey areas
for picking points in modeler? I wanna see a nice big fat PURPLE point 🙂
I remember I patched Modeler to change the pallette but I can't remember
how I found the code. White on black on grey gets tough after a while.
–Paul < Motorola Inside >
I really haven't had a chance to spend much time with the Modeler package.
As your specific problem is not one that's vexed me, I didn't immediately
check that.
I DO believe that they've gone to 8 colors (at least on an AGA system), so
you could expect they've increased the number of colors used when
selecting points.
I'll check next ime I'm around one of the machines . . .
