Can anyone tell me what jumpers to set on the Seagate Hard Drive that comes
with the Amiga 4000 to convince the system that there is a "slave" hard drive
inside? Thanks in advance for any help you can give

If there's a model number on the drive, I might be able to help. I have a few
drive specifications from some PC IDE comtrolers.

Solved the problem with a little experimentation with the jumpers. Thanks to

3- ON (Slave present)

5- ON (this controls the LED)

Thanks, Eddy. I wondered what happened to the led. I probably will need a
jumper to reactivate that light.

If I remember correctly there should already be -2- jumpers on the Seagate
St-3144A. Just move one jumper to pin -3- the other jumper to pin -5-. By
the way my led (HD0) doesn't light up either as I (dummy) forgot to move
the second jumper from the orig postion -4- to -5-…

You are right, Eddie. There are two jumpers, but apparently you need three: one
for the led, one for being unit 0, and one proclaiming there is a slave drive
present, in my case a Maxtor drive. Sorry about misspelling your name last
time. Thanks again for your help.

I think you might me right as I tried moving then jumper from pin-4 to -5,
when I turned the unit back on I got the insert WB disk screen request.
Changed the jumper back to -4 and unit booted normally. Never missed the
led, but now I have to find that third jumper and try it. There's always
something to play with…
