#PICT. files on Toast

I have called Tech Support about this problem. Perhaps the file type is
too large or something, but let me run this by you again.
Downloaded a Mac pic file from CompuServ. Followed instructions given in
PICTReadMe in Toaster directory. Images does not immediately load into Toaster
Paint as manual says…instead message "File, not picture" comes up.
What would cause this to happen??
There's a good chance the image is not a Mac PICT format, or it could have
been compressed (using CompactPro, or StuffIt Deluxe) on a Mac before it
was uploaded. In either case, it won't be recognized as a Mac PICT file.
You need to make sure that it's an uncompressed Mac _PICT_ or _PICT2_
file. The ReadPICT should have no problem with the correct type of PICT
image. (I've used it a number of times myself.)
There's also a chance that the PICT could have been JPEG-compressed
through QuickTime…file info would still list it as "PICT", not as
compressed, but it would not respond to old file-format "open"
commands. Some programs utilize JPEG automatically — the sender
might not realize it was enabled.
