Can CanDo 1.6 do MIDI ? If so how? I would like to write a patch librarian.

Gary, That's a GREAT idea (and I mean it)! Honestly I don't know if CanDo 1.6 can do MIDI (should though, as it's just simple serial port communication, only speed might be a problem – don't know if/ho they implemented SER:) but I thought of doing a similar thing, was just too lazy to start… <g>. I'd be very interested in your development, maybe we could kinda 'join forces' (sorta writing modules to put together later)??? To be honest, my idea went more in the direction of an (universal) EDITOR/librarian but for now/the beginning a librarian would do… You're from Europe as well (100… user id)??? Where exactly? // Chris coming in from Germany \X/ on AutoPilot 1.051……….

yes..I was thinking of an editor for my SoundCanvas and Casio synth. It's just a matter of either waiting for Inovatronics to implement MIDI or spending a lot of time experimenting with the serial manager (or the serial devices). That seems to be the way with me and CanDo … I have to spend a lot of time experimenting to find out how commands actualy work…is the version 2 manual any better?

Gary, CanDo 2.0's main advantage over 1.x is the all-new, ring bound (with box – very businesslike!) manual done with AmigaTEX – good letters, poor graphics (hardcopies) because the greys don't come out well. But it's one big step for us poor people who had to make do with the 1.0 manual plus 1.5 addendum booklet plus readme files for 1.6… To be honest, there ARE some new/enhanced functions but nothing that _I_ would say deserves the big version jump from 1.6 to 2.0… I'd like to do editors for my Ensoniq ESQ'1 (the first 'Workstation' keyboard), Roland D-110 sample player, Korg DDD-1 Dynamic Digital Drums and maybe (if I can afford it) the new Roland FD-7 ('Compact Drum System' sound module). // Chris coming in from Germany \X/ on AutoPilot 1.051……….

Thanks Vidar, perhaps I will upgrade from CanDo 1.6 when they implement MIDI. By the way..How do you make sure your messages get through to INOVAtronics? I thought this forum would be a direct link with them. Is this just a discussion area for INOVAtronics users? Gary
