#Video presentation

I have a 2000 and would like to capture 2D images convert them into a 3D object
so I can rotate, zoom in and move around the object and place it on a video to
playback for others.
I know I will need to accelerate my 2000 and would like to know what I will
need to produce such a video.
I know a genlock is needed and perhaps Caligari for the 3D stuff.
What type of Video machine will I need and do I need Opalvision?
Would it be better to get a 1200 accelorated?
I do have a limited expense account.
I guess what I am asking for is to produce a video presenation.

If you capture 2D images and convert to 3D model you will still get a Flat
Extruded model unless you do ALOT of work. a Genlock is NOT neccessary for
this you can use an Encoder. If you get the A1200 you can record Direct
from the 1200 to Video tape. Get as much RAM and HD space as possible.
FORGET Caligari for 3D work it is TRASH(My opinion not Fact)
Get Imagine or Real 3D 2.0 or even Alladin 4D.
For yer 2000 you could use a DCTV($299) to output your to video in Psuedo
24 bit Color.
I believe the Opalvision is only capable of animating in 8 bit mode.
Peter-
Tell me more about Caligari and the version you are familiar with.

Peter,
I'm interested in your take on Caligari too…I have Caligari 2, and
am wondering if its worth upgrading to Caligari 24. The '2' version
really was a disappointment to me, especially the bad docs/useless
video.
Please let me say I have an ANCIENT version of the software and hated
it to the point where it is buried somewhere in a disk box. The New
Video for Caligari is supposed to actually teach you how to use it.
Peter,
Hmm…perhaps I'll look into the upgrade. A new video, coupled with the
free-form deformation support, could wheedle a few upgrade bucks from me
🙂

Whatever rocks yer sox dude. Good Luck with Caligari. You'll probably need
it.
It's 1. something or other and TRASH IMHO. The ONLY thing I like about
it, the Toaster also has, realtime setup of yer objects/cameras etc.

OpalVision can actually playback from 15,18, or 24-bit anims but of course
playpack speed is slower with higher bit-planes.

When I said 8 bit I meant for Reasonable Playback speed with the
Opalvision Card. Sorry I was a bit vague.
