#AVGA R12 driver
5 messages in this thread
I have downloaded the file, configured Autocad to use this display but I get a
'conflicting hardware' message. It says that this driver is only for use with
the 'cirrus' range of chips.Perhaps it's an old card./EXIT
Tom,
Sorry I didn't explain it completely. Cirrus actually acquired Acumos,
therefore, the AVGA chips have been transformed into Cirrus chips. The AVGA1
became the Cirrus GD5401, but you should be able to choose 5402 as your board
type. You will be presented options that are not available with your board
though, as you probably only have 256K memory available. Is the "conflicting
hardware" message coming from AutoCAD or from the driver?
Let me know if you have any more problems.

The message is coming from the driver all right. The only chip options are:
CL-GD5420, CL-GD5420, CL-GD5422 and CL-GD5426 and each choice gives that
'conflicting hardware' message. -Tom
Tom,
Thanks for the info, I'll check this problem out and get back to you.

Tom,
I just checked the problem out. You will not be able to use the CIRRUS.EXE
driver that you downloaded. You're card still has an ACUMOUS BIOS. You can try
to contact Cirrus at 510-226-2128 to see if they'll send you a BIOS update. The
CIRRUS driver that you are trying to use now is locked to the CIRRUS BIOS and
the BIOS that you have is not responding correctly because it is the ACUMOS
BIOS. You can download the TRBDEM.EXE driver from this forum, or the same thing
on our BBS is TURBDEMO.EXE. This is a full ADI 4.2 display driver which lets
you use our AutoCAD enhancements for 20 minutes a day then reverts back to a
normal display driver. It works fine without any penalties under 3DS.
Good Luck!
