#DOS6 – CDROM PROBLEM

Has anyone else had problems getting a perfectly fine CD player to work under
the new DOS (or is this a Microsoft question!?)
I loaded the new driver, but the only way I can get the CD to work is from a
bootable floppy that does not have DBLSPACE.INI.
Any help/support/suggestions &c would be appreciated!
Are you using the MSDEX included with DOS 6.0 ?
The most likely culprit, if you haven't used a disk doubling utility before, is
the drive letter assignment, the /L: switch in MSCDEX. When you use such a
utility (I'm assuming DOS6 follows Stacker's protocol cuz I haven't loaded 6
yet), it adds a drive letter to your system for the stacked volume. If your CD
was D:, then the stacked volume became D:, and you'll have to assign E: to the
CD, change most of your CDROM program installations, and maybe change your
LASTDRIVE statement too. Major hassle, I'm afraid. More help is available in
file Laser3.txt in Lib #4. In advance, my sympathy. When I added a hard disk,
it took me two hours to rewrite all the batch files that loaded various CDROM
rpograms.
