Just bought a Toshiba XM-3401B for work. I've got the SCSI controller, but was asked if I needed the drivers gor that drive. I answered no, figuring I could always get them later. What's the scoop? Does it make sense for a drive to come without drivers? If so, where can I get drivers for this as cheaply as possible? — Tim —

Tim… What kind of SCSI card do you have? Our CorelSCSI drivers go for a suggested list price of $99 (U.S.), and would give you a wide range of support, but we require the use of a card that has an ASPI manager provided with it. Yours, Bryan

Bryan – I don't _have_ a SCSI card yet. Can you or anyone suggest one? I assume that, for purposes of driving a CDROM, I don't need caching SCSI-II or anything like that. — Tim —

Tim… I make it a rule never to show preferences and suggest cards; it gets people mad at me <g>. You could try taking a look at our forum, where I've uploaded a list of all cards and devices that have passed the certification testing with our drivers. The file is called MASTER.TXT and can be found in the CorelSCSI Library when you GO COREL. Then, once you've seen the choices, drop me a line and I'll let you know what would probably be appropriate for your situation. Yours, Bryan

Bryan – Discression really is the better part of valor, eh? I'll look for MASTER.TXT and get back to you. Thanks! — Tim —

Do you know if the CorelSCSI drivers can work with a Pro Audio Spectrum 16 ?

Franck… We have not tested our drivers with this board as of yet, but I've been informed by some users that there is an ASPI manager available for the card, made by Trantor, which does allow you to use our drivers with the PAS-16 SCSI interface. I can't vouch for this personally, however. Thanks for the interest! Yours, Bryan

If you purchase the Trantor SCSIworks! package, you get the ASPI Manager for the Pro Audio Spectrum card, which do work with the Corel drivers just fine. SCSIworks! is list $89 and available from most Trantor dealers. For the dealer nearest you, call 1-800-TRANTOR for info. Or GO TRANTOR here on CIS for more Trantor information.
