I just installed a SB 16 and would like some input as to what possible drives I
could buy that would plug into this card. or if that's even a good idea? The
people at Creative Labs infer that you should purchase their product, But what
I need is more objective advice, as far as what will work. I guess I'm
looking for a middle of the road access time as well as price. Any input would
be much appreciated. I am running a 486DX2 66, local bus video, with SCSI
capabilities.

The Sound Blaster uses a proprietary interface and there are few drives
available that will plug into the card. Buying their drive is a good idea.
Then you will be sure to have the correct software and cables to hook up your
CD-ROM drive. The drives are available elsewhere and you also have the choice
of buying a drive that has it's own interface card. This may be a cheaper and
higher performance solution.
