#Cyrix 486DLC
2 messages in this thread
I have an internal Mitsumi CD-ROM which will download files but cannot be used
to run software. Wehnever I attempt to directly run software from the drive,
it will default to the dos prompt. I then find that my conventional memory is
almost filled. Strangely, it will handle full multi-media on disks designed
specivically for windows. I have tried the following: 1. Changed SCSI
controllers. 2. Changed Video Cards. 3. Ran it without the Sound Card, 4.
Replaced it with a Sony CD-Drive (same problem). The drive has a "stand-alone"
controller card. I have checked all my IRQ's etc. and pulled devices to
eliminate them as culprits. I cannot figure out why it will work for downloads
and through Windows but not for Dos applications.
Has anyone had any similar problems with the Cyrix 486DLC chip or
anything like this?
There is a cyrix rep in the (GO IBMHW) forum too. Did you check that memory
for your scsi controller is not mapped by any other device? DO you have the
most current drivers for your drive and controller?
