#CanDo HEX output
6 messages in this thread
This has me beat. Could someone PLEASE tell me why these lines cause
a software crash. They are the only lines in a deck which has one button and
this is the CLICK script.
OpenFile "RAM:MyFile","NewFile",WriteOnly,NewFile
FileWriteChars "NewFile","903CFF",MaxInteger,HEX
Close "NewFile"
This should create a file in ram consisting of three bytes of data.
I am using CanDo 1.6 under Workbench 1.3 on a Amiga 1000. It's probably
something silly but I can't find it.

Gary,
sorry, but I could _not_ recreate your crash on my system. I used
_exactly_ your script. I looked up all commands – the syntax is
correct. I thought, maybe it could be because you didn't write
'WriteOnly' and 'NewFile' in capitals but that doesn't make any
difference… Mind you, I'm using CanDo 2.01 under WB 2.04 on an
Amiga 2000 with CSA-MMR 030. No problem at all. I press the button
and have MyFile in RAM: with these three bytes in it…

Christian,
thanks for trying those lines of code. I tried booting from the
original CanDo floppies incase it was a virus on my HD or a corrupt file but
the program still crashed. I also used HiSoft basic to implement the same
program and it worked fine. Is it a bug in 1.6 ? (INOVAtraonics are you there?)
Gary
Gary, there were several problems with HEX output and conversions with version
1.6. I really think the only workaround is the upgrade. Sorry.

Is it possible to give the precise information how a European, registered
owner of Cando 1.5 can upgrade to v2.0 ?
I do not own Cando myself, but I am a sysop of a BBS, and one of my users
complained that he could not get the info on how to upgrade. I will pass
on the information.
Thanks in advance,
Herman
Herman,
upgrade/information is available from
Inovatronics GmbH
Im Heidkamp 11
D-51107 Kvln (or 'Cologne' for French/English people…)
The subsidiary is managed by Martin Murray, who used to participate in the
development of CanDO 'in the olden days' and he's in charge of the whole
of Europe as regards INOVAtronics activities. If your user is registered,
Martin should have him in his list.
