Hi!
Anyone got the scoop on the release date of the "tower-style" 4000??
(BTW I think "Tower" is a trademake of someones — NCR perhaps?)
the "tower" is a gotta-have-it for a 4000-based Toaster – unlues ya don't want
to use any add in boards!

Word is that it is a whole new motherboard with more slots, including two video
slots! I'm sure that the price will be on the order of a new pentium based
machine as well…

There will be a lot more expansion slots as well as SCSI 2 as standard (at
last). There will also be more RAM as standard.
But the FCC will find a way to make it June '94 if past performance is any
indication.

CompVid is a Compuer Graphics/Video Production Services business. Graphics
frames and animations for folks doing video production.
We are considering gettting into HW and SW, but are a bit unsure of the market
here in K.C.
What kind of dealer do ya need?

Interestingly enough, it is now listed on the developer prices lists.
Supposedly has 2 video slots, IDE & SCSI-2 and lots of more slots.

Easy….the price is on the DEVELOPER price lists…if you're a developer you
know the price, if not…I don't think I'm going to be the one to tell ya
(haven't read all the fine print in the NDAs, yet).

Well, sorta. I'm not an official developer. 🙂 Someone else slipped
..twice, as they didn't mention to me that it was restricted knowledge. I'v
sent in my developer app just last week.

Yeah, the 4000 is a good standalone sneaker net ligtwave machine.
But don't try to AmiLink, Y/C-Plus, AD516, TBC E-Net… After the
Toaster is in place you only got 2 slots left.
BTW, the Toaster Oven people are advertising A4000 capability and
multiple video slots in the box. I haven't called them yet, though
so I have no details.

I have seen a Toaster Oven (A3000) and I was NOT impressed simply because
it doesn't add ANY Zorro slots it just relocates the IBM slots. Which is
great for TBCs but doesn't actually help the Zorro slots at all.
