#A minor, stupid question

WOW!
I just recently upgraded my 2000 from 1.3 to 2.1 and it sure is great.
Had been putting it off because I was afraid of "losing" a lot of my
programs, but I am amazed that most of them work. Whew. Didn't need to
make a major investment in new programs at this time.
So far the manuals/docs have been great in terms of showing me all the new
things I can do — and I've even understood most of it! Made the
changeover to AutoPilot too — it's great.
I do have one minor (and probably stupid) question though. I have set my
screenmode to 16 colors and in Palette I see the change to 16 colors.
However, the Workbench screen is still in 4 colors. Have I failed to do
something? Or — do I need to manually change all the icons, backgrounds,
and such? Hardly what I would call an important question — but still,
I'm curious.
I'm pretty excited about exploring the new world of 2.1!

The Workbench only uses the first four colours, unless you change your
icons or play with WBPattern. If the 2.1 Palette Prefs has the Multicolor
Settings like 3.0, then you can change what colours the various parts of
the Workbench use.

Thanks for the information. That's what I thought — but I also thought
that I might me missing something.

Workbench 2.0 & 2.1, can use more than 4 colors, but most programs that
open on the WB-screen will use only the first four colors.
The Workbench, itself, uses the extra colors for color high-lighting
(instead of reversed colors).
Icons, will only use the extra colors if they are painted to use them.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I thought that that was the case,
but since the manual never really said……I thought that I was
overlooking something.
Time to play around now with the icons.
