Lloyd, Thanks for the information, I'll let you know how I do with it. BTW,
I was told that I might not be able to take other SQ555 carts from other
Syquest owners and read the data on it because the CLtd software doesn't
conform to C= standards on hard disks. I'm looking to be compatible with
other users' carts, since I'm supplying a 2400 dpi output service I've got
to stay compatible. So I may have to purchase another SCSI controller like
GVP's with the 8meg SIMMs ram on board. But now I want a 3000 too!
will it ever end (no of course not)

I am not sure what you were saying in your last message to Lloyd but if I
understood you correctly…….. I have a 170 Meg Micropolis on my Kronos
card that I have used on a CBM 2090. Indeed since I have had the drive for
quite a long while, it was necessary for me to format the drive on the
C-Ltd controller (pre-Kronos), move it to the 2090 and format it again.
Once the drive was formatted on the 2090 I was able to use the drive on the
2090, C-Ltd and C-Ltd Kronos. I have not tried the drive on the 2091 but
believe that if you can move a 2090 drive to the 2091 then this on should
move ok also. Is this totally irrelevent to what you were talking about?

Well, you'd be compatable with *me*, and that's all that *I* care about!
<GRIN>.
As to whether Syquest cartridges formatted on a machine with a GVP (or
Supra or ICD or whatever) are "compatable" with one formatted with the
Kronos (or any of the others, even) will have to be found out by testing, I
guess. True, the Kronos doesn't have "Rigid Disk Blocks", but that may have
more to do with the AUTOBOOTING function than with the actual data layout.
Seems to me that if ALL used AMIGADOS's FORMAT, the layout of the data on
the drive should be the same. But like I said, you'll have to try several.
A friend of mine has a GVP controller (not the one you are planning on
getting). The Kronos is *so* much faster!
Good Luck. It does work. It was just getting the "low level" formatter
to work with the drive. After that it was a breeze. (Don't forget you have
to MANUALLY DISKCHANGE!!!)

No go. I have tried that and I just get a blank screen and music. Is
there something that needs to be set with either coercion or mode
promotion? I did notice that when I set to PAL Laced there is some
garbage that hits the screen in the lower half and then the computer locks
with no music or anything.

I tried it again. I did a cold boot, I do have mode promotion and avoid
flicker from prefs/icontrol set to on, I do have DoubleX running, and I set
DBLPAL:High Res, and clicked on USE. Machine then comes up in PAL – 256 lines
tall. Double click on the icon, the window with the horizontally scrolling
text comes up, go to the menu and select "Taking over machine", and up it
comes.

I must have something wacky with my system. I did exactly as you outlined
including loading up DoubleX and there is still a black screen. Would a
monitor not be able to track? I am using a Sony GVM-2020 21" multisync.
It has no problems with the Amiga display modes, but I'm wondering if
there is a problem with it displaying whatever tricks HOI2 is pulling. Oh
well, we tried. Tell me how it looks. I use my the theater of my mind to
enjoy. 🙁 Thanks for trying.

I was only using the PAL switch from IPREFS. Setting the display mode in
BOOT options to PAL did the trick.
