Multimedia Personal Computer, a standard developed by several mfgrs of CDROM
hardware and PCs. It sets certain minimum levels of performance for PCs and
CDROM hardware to be MPC-compliant, hopefully assuring that if everything meets
the standard, then you have at least a 50-50 chance of ever getting it to work
<g>. There are two "levels" of MPC specs: Level #1 expects a minimum 386SX-16,
2MB of RAM, 30MB HDD, 150K/sec CDROM transfer rate and 8 bit sound
capabilities; Level #2 (and the effective minimum, IMHO) requires 486SX-25, 4MB
of RAM (8 recommended!), 160 MB HDD, 300K/sec transfer with double speed,
XA-ready, and multisession-capable, and 16 bit sound. And thank you, PC Rag,
